the common sense guide to surviving the zombie apocalypse:
So, in the wake of reading this terrifying shit, Postcard and I started chatting, as you do, about the zombie apocalypse. Here are some things Postcard and I enjoy: zombie media, common sense, and YELLING ABOUT STUFF. Thus, for your reading pleasure, please enjoy our simple twenty-step guide to NOT DYING in the unlikely event that a zombie apocalypse ravages humanity:
- IN THE EVENT OF AN ACTUAL APOCALYPTIC SITUATION, ASSUME THAT THE FOLLOWING THINGS ARE GOING TO STOP WORKING: running water (this includes toilets); anything that relies on electricity (this includes gas pumps); anything that relies on natural gas lines (this includes gas stoves/central heat); basically, anything that relies on there being a factory of some variety at the other end of thing you want to make do stuff. THAT’S ALL GONNA BREAK. THIS INCLUDES THE INTERNET. Thus, the most important thing to do in the event of a zombie apocalypse is:
- RESEARCH. For as long as you possess the internet, do everything you can to learn as much as possible. Research edible/medicinal plants (or seriously, go into a bookstore and loot your shit a guidebook, they’re not large, they sell little tiny ones, you can put it in your pocket, WHY DOES EVERYONE IN EVERY ZOMBIE MOVIE NOT DO THIS). Research, from available information, how the zombies work/which of their senses are functional—for example, if they operate largely by smell, you want to work on smelling not alive. If they operate largely by sight, DON’T LIGHT FIRES AT NIGHT. And speaking of fires…

The Trevor Project Responds to Unanimous DOMA Ruling
Today, a three-judge panel from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit unanimously ruled that Section Three of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act, which discriminates against the marriages of same-sex couples at the federal level, is unconstitutional. Abbe Land, Executive Director and CEO of The Trevor Project, the nation’s leading provider of crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning teens and young adults issued the following statement:
“Today’s landmark decision illustrates how far America has come since the Defense of Marriage Act was passed in 1996. The First Circuit court’s ruling has shown Americans that the U.S. government values and supports the marriages of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. This affirmation sends a message of hope to youth that they can dream about a future of full equality.”

#this #this for me #is the turning point #this is it #the realisation #it’s one of those moments when it suddenly hits you #square in the chest #that fuck #you like this person a little more than you thought you would #and all it’s gonna cause is a shit ton of problems #you can speculate when you think it is #but i think it’s here #that dean finally gets it #he gets that cas is part of him now #and there’s nothing he can do about it #and for those who want to go one step further #it’s the time when dean realises that #oh my god #i’m totally falling for an angel #it’s all there #he’s been with sam for four years #and he laughs harder with cas in one night #than he has with his own brother #who he’d fucking die for #and the second gif #that right there #is the sucker punch to the gut #the painful realisation that an angel #of all things #has just made you laugh harder than your own brother could #and of course it hurts #because #this is a war they’re fighting #and they’re going to make sacrifices and dean knows the chances of them coming out alive is slim #and you know #he’s given a piece of him to cas #and the consequences of his actions will be pain #and regret #and grief #and he doesn’t know whether to be happy #or sad #because what could develop into something more #won’t #he knows that in the end all it’s going to do #is hurt more
